Rubik’s Resilience: Growth mindset and SPHE
“I have found the course so useful and love the practical element of the Rubik cube in teaching about the growth mindset and perseverance” Participant
Course Information and Key Themes
The Rubik’s Cube is the most popular puzzle of all time. Solving the Rubik’s Cube can be a difficult, frustrating and overwhelming endeavour. Many children will put down the cube after a few minutes and say, “I can’t do it!”. This course explores the concepts of ‘Resilience’ and ‘Growth Mindset’ so that we can teach children to pick it back up and say, “I can’t do it yet!”
This course offers a very clear procedural method for participants to use and solve their own Rubik’s Cube at home, making the ‘impossible’ possible. However the real value of this course is within the journey. The course modules, which bring you along the journey, are framed by key messages of Professor Carol Dweck’s landmark research and book, ‘Mindset’ and is heavily linked with the Social, Personal and Health Education Curriculum Strand Unit of ‘Self-Identity’. This course aims to instill within us the knowledge and understanding of the ‘Power of Yet’…. a message, a skill and a challenge to bring back to class in September!
